From before the turn of the century, Peder Johannessen had rowed the mail from Hemnes. The many orders he then received from people to buy various things led him to start general trading. In 1902, a post office was established here, and Peder Johannessen became post opener. Later, steamships also docked here at Straumholmen. The general store was moved to 90 Medstraum 1953. Peder Johannessen was used as host in grave beer. |
